Somebana (染め花 ) in Japanese terminology means to dye and craft ﬂowers with starched fabrics like velvet, pure silk, ﬁne cotton organdy..etc. It is also referred as Art Flower, Nunohana, Somehana, French Flowers.
Petals, leaves, stalks, even artiﬁcial stamens are handmade one piece at a time, therefore they are often treasured for it’s lavishing material, aesthetic value and intricate details.
Purpose of the 2 days event is to introduce the art of Somebana as well as to encourage cultural exchange activities in Hong Kong. Somebana artists from 5 diﬀerent time zones will exhibit their prided work in varies forms, such as decorative ﬂower arrangements, fasincators, creative decoration, couture ensemble.. etc.
Exhibition highlights includes 4 sessions of live demo by Ms. Lisin (Taiwan) and Ms. Chigira Yuki (Japan). Those who eager to get crafty may sign up for paid seminars taught by Tanaka Sakiko (Japan) beforehand via our website, www.ateliersomebana.com , which will launch on August 15th, 2016.
