Special Programs at JTIA for

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day

July 1, 2023

To celebrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day, Jao Tsung-I Academy (JTIA) will organize a series of celebration activities, including public guided tours and art and creative experience workshops at JTIA.

● Each tour is limited to 15 people only

The JTIA’s Public Cultural Conservation Guided Tour returns with great fanfare and reopens to the public for the first time since the pandemic!

Jao Tsung-I Academy is located on a hillside in Lai Chi Kok. The buildings on its current site were once used as a quarantine station, a prison, an infectious disease hospital, and a rehabilitation centre. Though it has served different roles and performed different functions at different times, they all had one thing in common – they played a special role in responding to the needs of society at that time.  Taking the theme of “Hong Kong Cultural Inheritance”, the building complex with its unique location and architecture has been preserved, re-planned, and revitalized to become a landmark cultural platform, responding to the cultural development needs of present-day society. The guide will lead the public around JTIA and explain the historical changes and special architectural features of JTIA as it is today.
