Introduction
The Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) was converted from a 9-storey Shek Kip Mei factory building. The centre received donations from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to fund the renovation and renovation of the building and part of the start-up costs. The Shek Kip Mei Factory Building was built in 1977 and had been vacant since 2000, with a total usable area of 8,640 square metres. The design of JCCAC strives to retain the characteristics of the original stone Kip Mei factory building. It maintains the rustic style of the industrial building in the 1970s in its use of renovation materials, with concrete floors. Around 50,000 square feet provide about 100 small and medium-sized units for rent to art workers and art groups, and about 30,000 square feet provide about 6 to 7 large-scale units for rent to art institutions; the center is equipped with art galleries and experimental theaters, restaurants, art galleries and other shops. The central space provides a performance venue for small-scale art and cultural activities. Each floor of the building also has a shared space for displaying sculptures and for hosting activities.
