Introduction
This exhibition is a project of the Chinese Culture @ New World (中華文化‧新世界). There will be an introduction on the roots of Chinese music, explanation of Dunhuang musical scores, and murals depicting music scenes found in the Dunhuang Grottoes will be shown through two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and multi-media formats. These murals show the types of musical instruments used, occasions when music was played, and musicians. Characteristic or representative musical instruments have been selected for actual display to show more fully their types and appearance. Gaudeamus Dunhuang will create and perform Dunhuang music at the exhibition, and Dunhuang-themed music will also be regularly played in the exhibition hall. The younger generation will learn of their ancestors’ achievements and what has been passed down to them after viewing the exhibition. Focusing on the concept of “cultural inheritance”, our aim is to pass on and promote Dunhuang music.
“Heavenly Music of Dunhuang” Exhibition Side event
With the aim to promote Dunhuang culture and art, two concerts performed by Gaudeamus Dunhuang are specially arranged during the “Heavenly Music of Dunhuang” exhibition for visitors to experience and enjoy Dunhuang music.
